Hygrophorus marginatus var. concolor Smith Cap 1-3cm across, obtusely cone-shaped becoming flatter and wavy in large, mature specimens; apricot to chrome yellow; smooth and moist with a thin, striate, spreading margin. Gills broadly adnate, subdistant, broad; chrome yellow. Stem 30-60 x 4-8mm, sometimes narrower toward the base; bright yellow; smooth, moist. Flesh thin, brittle; same color as cap. Odor not distinctive. Taste not distinctive. Spores ellipsoid, nonamyloid, 7-9 x 4-5ì. Deposit white. Habitat scattered under hemlock. Common. Found in northeastern North America, west to Michigan. Season August-September. Edibility not known.
